#sonamkishadi has taken over the internet, especially the Instagram. Sonam Kapoor just hyphenated her last name to Kapoor-Ahuja. In case you missed out something then don’t worry because here’s everything that you need to know about Sonam’s Wedding Looks #sonamkishadi.
With a wish of making #EverydayPhenomenal with beau Anand, Sonam tied the knot with entrepreneur Anand Ahuja on 8th May’18 and it is all anyone can talk about. The celebrations started with a small intimate Mehandi affair, hosted at Kapoor Mansion in Juhu. The event was meant for close family and friends. Sonam adorned beautiful and stunning pastel ensembles paired with minimal makeup and heavy earrings. Stunning as she is, Sonam pulled off a really pretty, simple and elegant look for her Mehandi.
The small Mehandi event was followed by an amazing star-studded after Mehandi party hosted at Sunteck, Signature Island, Bandra Kurla Complex on 7th May’18. The color theme of the party was Gold and White. Sonam looked absolutely stunning in Ivory and Gold lehenga by Anu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, known for their chickenkari, mirror and metallic lattice work over Indian garments.
Sonam’s lehenga was made using 40 different stitch techniques and had intricate chickenkari work embellished with the accents of light Gold. Her heavy embroidered Golden choli surely highlighted her look. “This ensemble is a labor of love and joy. Sonam is our absolute favorite and for her wedding, it had to be a fantasy piece that set new creative standards for us in order to do full justice to her and this sacred occasion. She ordered it two years ago and it’s taken multiple teams of artisans eighteen months to create,” said designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla.
The star chose to pair her beautiful ensembles with a stunning choker necklace, waterfall jhumki earrings, gorgeous heavy kada bracelet and a maang tika from our mother’s personal collection. Here’s a closer look.
The way she adorned waterfall jhumki earrings is stunning and we are already in love with her look. The long braid wrapped in Mogras definitely complimented her look in a very subtle and classic way.
The BIG DAY:
The couple tied the knot in the traditional Punjabi style. They took the pheras in Sikh ceremony of Anand Karaj at the residence of Sonam’s maternal aunt, Kavita Singh.
Known for her unusual styling, Sonam chose unusual designed vintage textile pattern lehenga and the traditional jewellery. Adorned beautifully, Sonam wore red and gold lehenga, designed by Anuradha Vakil. Accessorized with stunning Vintage style jewellery, Sonam has set a new trend for layered jewellery. She embraced a choker necklace layered with a guttapusalu necklace and a multi-stranded matha patti.

The Grand RECEPTION
Tied in the forever knot of love and care, Sonam and Anand celebrated their wedding reception at the Leela in Mumbai. The star-studded reception was well organized and surely attracted good media attention. The couple went for the combination of grey and white with Sonam adorning beautiful pared-down graphic grey and white lehenga by Anamika Khanna. Sonam went for a cape jacket instead of a dupatta. The chevron pattern of her lehenga bottom had beautiful embroidered work embellished with metallic threadwork.
In her jewellery, Sonam wore layers of Polki necklaces that kicked her minimal sartorial look up a notch.
